In the scene shift from scene one to scene two, we finally start to hear some of the original thematic elements in the composition. The main concept for the music was the twisted, co-dependant relationship between the title character, Maureen, and her mother, Mag. Mag is represented by the hammer dulcimer, while Maureen can be "heard" in the high strings and winds. The two parts, when heard individually, are not very interesting to liten to. It's only when you combine them against the bed that they begin to become engaging.
